CCA Students Show School Spirit

Student Council organized the first Spirit Week at Classical Christian Academy the week of April 20-24. The week included three themed dress-up days for Upper School students and ended with Spring Formal on Saturday night and a CCA family picnic on Sunday.

Monday was called CCA Spirit Day. Students and staff were encouraged to wear the school colors of blue, gold and white. Some students wore their CCA Mavericks T-shirts and blue jeans. Members of CCA’s soccer team sported school pride in team jerseys and yellow soccer socks.

Wednesday was “America Day,” and it was all about the red, white and blue. Sophomore Maggie Eckert commanded attention in her American flag shorts, skull cap and socks, along with a T-shirt that read, “I Love the USA.” Classmate Josh Pringle also sported American flag shorts, with a bandana and military support running T-shirt from the YMCA. Kailyn English got into the spirit with red-white-and-blue pom-poms in her hair and beads around her neck to complement her red dress and blue scarf.

The final day of Spirit Week was Flashback Friday, with students and staff encouraged to go retro, wearing fashions from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Sophomore Erica Campbell definitely looked the part in her red-white-and-blue running suit, which would have been high fashion in the ’80s.

When asked how Student Council came up with themes for the three days of Spirit Week, Vice President Naomi Ingram joked, “A spitball of ideas together.”

Next year, Student Council members plan to make Spirit Week even better. They hope to recruit players and cheerleaders for a Powder Puff game, the officers said. They’ll also be searching for some new dress-up themes.

This big week of events happened about two weeks before the end of school. Students and staff agreed it was a fun way to wrap up a successful school year.
